The number 13 has always been lucky for the Fighting Irish...I think it began when Rockne’s football jersey number was 13. The jersey he was wearing during the David and Goliath victory over Army in 1913- an undefeated season!  Knute Rockne coached for 13 years. Love that Riley Leonard is 13...and that CJ Carr is lining up for 13 next season. Also notable that we have 13 varsity sports teams, and that the roster of the smoking hot women’s basketball team has 13 players. My favorite long view of campus has always been from Father Hesburgh’s office on the 13th floor of the library. And Pete Bevacqua is our 13th Athletic Director, which feels extra lucky to me! And let’s not forget that Taylor Swift’s favorite number is 13, which is relevant to Notre Dame because Taylor’s little brother Austin is ND class of 2015. Lastly, here’s  a very incomplete list of great players who wore 13: Pat Eilers, Tom Carter, Bert Berry.
